Cape Fear Valley Family Readiness Group 

Cape Fear Valley Health System's Family Readiness Group (FRG) provides assistance to fellow employees whose family member is scheduled to be deployed or is already deployed for military service, or if a family member is away on a business trip for an extended period of time.The FRG provides referral assistance to help you locate childcare or resolve pay issues, or just be available to have a cup of coffee and listen. This active group meets regularly.A few recent activities of the FRG include:  

  • "Show Your Support." A project where 20 banners were created with messages, poems and words of inspiration.  
  • Cape Fear Valley Health System employees volunteered their time at the 5thAnnual Military Spouse Day Conference and also Senior Spouses Conference.
  • Over 150 Packages and cards have been sent to family members of our employees deployed in Iraq, Afghanistan, Korea, etc.
  • Operation “Santa Clothes” collected over a half ton of clothing, sneakers and flip-flops for injured and wounded troops arriving at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany.
  • Provide Monthly Morale, Welfare and Recreation Newsletter and FLO Notes, the newsletter from the Army Well-Being Liaison Office.
  • Provide coloring books and booklets on how to talk to your children about separation and deployments.

Anheuser-Busch Extends Free Park Visits Through 2008

  • This program offers free tickets to Busch Gardens and Sea World to troops and their families.  The program, called "Here's to the Heroes," has become so popular that Anheuser-Busch extended the free visits another year.  "Here's to the Heroes" is open to active duty service members, active members of the Reserve or National Guard, and up to three direct dependents for one free admission per year.  For more information and to fill out a form for free admission, visit:  http://www.herosalute.org
