| Critical
Care Program
The Critical Care Program is designed to
develop RNs, both academically and clinically. Both experienced
and new grad RNs may apply. The 12-week course
combines lectures, videos and interactive group discussions
dealing with critical thinking scenarios/case studies to foster
learning.
Observation of procedures in Cardiac
Catheterization Lab, Open-Heart Surgery and skills practice labs
will help to prepare the new critical care nurse for this
challenging environment. Finally, hands on experience during the
clinical rotations with experienced preceptors in critical care in
the various ICUs will complete the learning process.
GOALS: The Critical Care Program will:
1. Support the development of a competent and proficient
nurse.
2. Build consistent decision-making skills and foster the
development of critical thinking skills.
3. Promote adaptation of the novice nurse to the work
environment in the critical care arena.
