Cape Fear Valley Health System offers comprehensive 14-week Nurse Residency Programs designed to facilitate the transition of the new graduate to the role of professional nurse.
The residency program requires commitment of full-time employment for a period of at twenty-four (24) months after completion of one of the Residency programs, you will be required to sign an agreement. NO Military Clause.

Progressive Care Residency Accepting application from February 1, 2010 thru March 1, 2010.
The Progressive Care Residency is designed to both academically and clinically prepare nurses to work on the Progressive Care and Acute Long-term Care Units. Patients on these units have increased acuity; some just released from intensive care units and may be on both mechanical ventilations and critical drips. Developed around the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) Progressive Care Certification Exam (PCCN); this 14 week program utilizes lectures, critical thinking case studies, discussions, videos and guest speakers to convey the knowledge and the skills needed to prepare the nurse to work on these units and to sit for the PCCN exam.
Med-Surg Residency for New Graduate RNs Accepting applications from February 1, 2010 thru March 1, 2010.
The first year of nursing can be overwhelming for the new graduate who is transitioning from student to clinical practice. The 14-week Med-Surg Residency is designed to ease the transition and establish a foundation in clinical nursing by providing classes on Cape Fear Valley practice and professional development while integrating clinical practice on a variety of adult medical-surgical units.
Eligibility To be eligible for the Cape Fear Valley Health System Nurse Residency Program, you must:
Current RN license for North Carolina or Compact State RN license.
Be a new graduate with RN license or eligible to take the NCLEX.
